How are you going to protect him? I'm assuming that you're going to, in some way. He assumes it too.

You're asking a loaded question and instructing me to avoid emotions when you know I won't do that. What makes you think I'm going to protect him? If he's content to make the same mistakes, I can leave him to it once more. He can assume what he wants. It wouldn't be the first time he's misread someone close to him.

Of course it would hurt. But I have no intention of babysitting someone of his standing. What he is doing with Kira is selfish and dangerous and I've told him that. He shouldn't assume just because I brought that up I'm going to take measures to keep him safe. There wasn't a single lesson at Whammy's instructing us to depend on the people around us for security. L died because he was banking on the humanity of others. No one protected me and I only died because I chose it.

It will hurt, but less than before. And I'm used to feeling things. Maybe you should be asking Near these questions.
