She needs to have white noise to relax, like fans or the hum of electronics. District 5 is responsible for all the electricity, which means their reserve generators power all the more important locations. In times of scarcity, or maybe just to remind 5 its not one of the favored Districts, their public use electricity is rerouted, causing and district wide power outage. The sound of machinery powering down, fans crawling to a halt, etc sets her on edge. There's a reserve generator in the lab, but she gave it up a couple years ago to some of the more depressed areas of the district (mom wasn't too thrilled about that). So now when the powers out, its gone in the Lalonde compound too. There's the low sound of a generator shutting down, the deafening clang of metal panels oscillation panels slamming shut, and the malingering fear the power will never come back, the one commodity 5 has is gone for good. It scares the pants off her. She gets it's a weird thing, but doesn't know how to fix it. Roxy's better with the dark though, but silence makes her anxious as a cat. Silence in the Games wasn't a sign of anything good either.

She chews at her nails, mostly out of habit. When Rose was around more, she used to harp about it, which only made Roxy do it more. Stuck to the habit when mom was around less and less, tho occasionally she stopped with the idea that would make her Rose proud when she came back (she doesn't notice).
